General Functionality
How is Price Rules different from a Shopify Discount Code?
Price Rules updates the actual Price and Compare-at Price fields in Shopify. The discount appears directly on product and collection pages. Shopify Discount Codes apply at checkout only.
Do Price Rules modify my Shopify database?
Yes. It securely updates the Price and Compare-at Price fields through Shopify’s Admin APIs.
Will prices automatically revert when a sale ends?
Yes. Scheduled sales automatically revert prices at the defined End Date and Time.
What happens if I don’t set an End Date?
The sale remains active indefinitely until you manually click Revert or Stop.
Does the app slow down my storefront?
No. Price Rules runs on the backend and does not inject scripts into your theme.
Product Selection & Targeting
How can I select products for a sale?
You can use Smart Rule filters (Tags, Vendor, Metafields, Category, Price, etc.) or upload a CSV file with SKUs, Barcodes, or Variant IDs.
Can I target specific variants instead of entire products?
Yes. You can filter by Variant Title, SKU, or other variant-level attributes.
Can I exclude certain products from a site-wide sale?
Yes. Use a tag or metafield condition (e.g., exclude products where Tag contains “New Arrival”).
Does CSV upload change product content?
No. CSV files are used strictly for product selection, not for editing titles, inventory, or descriptions.
Pricing Logic
Can I apply different discounts based on price ranges?
Yes. Tiered Discounts allow you to apply different percentages or fixed amounts based on price brackets.
Does the app prevent “discount on discount” errors?
Yes. The system stores the original price state and calculates new prices based on that reference.
What is a Permanent Price Change?
It updates the product’s selling price without a scheduled auto-revert. You must manually adjust it later if needed.
Can I revert a Permanent Price Change automatically?
No. Permanent changes do not include an End Date trigger.
Can I use rounding rules?
Yes. You may round to the nearest increment or override cents (e.g., force .99 endings). These options are mutually exclusive.
Can rounding increase the final price?
Yes. For example, forcing .99 may round $19.05 up to $19.99.
What happens if a product falls into two Tiered ranges?
Ranges are processed sequentially. Make sure tiers are mutually exclusive to avoid overlap.
Sync, Logs & Troubleshooting
Why didn’t my prices update instantly?
Large catalogs are processed in background queues. For major campaigns, schedule sales 15-30 minutes in advance.
How do I confirm that a price change was successful?
Check the Activity Log or review the Product Variant Pricing Dashboard.
What does “External” price source mean?
The current price was modified outside Price Rules (e.g., Shopify admin edit, CSV import, or another app).
What does “Reverting” status mean?
The system is actively restoring original prices. Processing time depends on catalog size.
Why is my log empty?
The background job may not have started yet. Wait a few moments and click Refresh.
What happens if I uninstall the app during an active sale?
The app cannot auto-revert prices after uninstalling. Always revert active sales before removal.
Plans & Billing
How is the product limit calculated?
Plans are based on your total store product count, not just discounted items. The app must sync your entire catalog to function properly.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Standard, Premier, and Pro plans include a 14-day free trial, allowing you to test full functionality before committing.
What happens if I exceed my plan limit?
You may be unable to sync new products or activate new sales until you upgrade.
Does the product limit include variants?
No. Limits are based on parent product count, though all variants are managed.
What happens to active sales if I change plans?
Switching plans does not cancel active sales. However, downgrading below your product count may restrict the creation of new rules.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Navigate to the Billing tab and select Cancel Subscription. Revert active sales before cancelling.
