Print Receipts
A printed receipt gives the customer a record of what they ordered and what they've paid, which matters most when they leave a deposit on a made-to-order item. OrderPilot lets your staff print a receipt from the register in two ways: from the Print Receipt tile, or from the order screen of any quote or order.
This article explains how to print a receipt with the Print Receipt tile, how to print a receipt or quote from the order screen, and what to check if nothing prints.
Before You Start#
Consider the following questions before getting started:
Is a receipt printer connected to Shopify POS?#
OrderPilot sends receipts to the printer connected to Shopify POS on that device. Set up and test the printer in Shopify POS first.
Is the Print Receipt tile on your smart grid?#
If you want the one-tap list, add the Print Receipt tile (listed as "Print order receipts" when you add tiles in the Shopify admin). See the POS Overview. You can also print from the order screen without this tile.
How to Print a Receipt from the Print Receipt Tile?#
Step 1: On the POS home screen, tap the “Print Receipt” tile. The Print receipt screen opens with a list of your store's orders.
Step 2: Find the order:
- All (the default) lists every order in the store. Mine lists only orders credited to you.
- Type a customer name or order number in Search customer or order #.
- Tap “Load more orders” at the bottom to see older orders. The list shows 20 at a time.
Each row shows the customer (or No customer), the order number and when it last changed, the payment badge, the total, and the number of items.
Step 3: Tap the order, or tap “Print” on its row. The row shows Printing… while the receipt is sent, then POS confirms with Receipt sent to printer.
Note: The Print Receipt tile lists orders only. To print a quote, open it from the Orders & Quotes tile and use Print quote (see below).
How to Print from the Order Screen?#
Step 1: On the POS home screen, tap the “Orders & Quotes” tile and open the quote or order.
Step 2: In the right column, under Take Deposit and Show QR to Sign, tap “Print receipt”. On a quote, the same button reads “Print quote”.
POS confirms with Receipt sent to printer.
If Nothing Prints#
| Message | What to do |

| Couldn't print the receipt. Try again. (Print Receipt tile) | Check that the printer is on, connected, and set up in Shopify POS, then tap the order again. |
| Failed to print receipt (order screen) | Same as above. If it keeps failing, try printing from the other place, then contact support. |
| Couldn't load orders. Try again. | The list didn't load. Check the device's internet connection and reopen the tile. |
| No orders match your search. | Check the spelling of the name or number, or switch from Mine to All. |
Example: Printing a Deposit Receipt for Daniel Okafor#
Daniel Okafor paid a deposit on a Halsey Platform Bed at another register earlier in the day and asks for a printed copy before he leaves.
- The salesperson taps the “Print Receipt” tile.
- They leave the list on All, since another salesperson took the deposit, and type "Okafor" in the search box.
- Daniel's order shows the Partial Paid badge. They tap the row.
- POS shows Receipt sent to printer, and the receipt prints.
Important Notes & Tips#
Use All When Someone Else Made the Sale#
Mine only lists orders credited to you under Sold by. If a customer's order doesn't appear, switch to All.
Print After the Payment Is Recorded#
A receipt shows what's recorded at the moment you print it. After taking a deposit, check that Paid $X of $Y on the order screen shows the payment before you print.
